haibun LXII

The sounds of a hundred birds open my eyes; frogs, crickets and scurrying squirrels enter the song.  I decide on a hike.

wake into beauty
morning light across calm lake
a bridge connects shores

Enter the nature preserve and wonder where the trail will lead.  Life is a string of discoveries.

moment of beauty
wild flower along path
traveling uphill

Continue around the lake and pause at frequent intervals.

trail widens away
questions and decisions
remember lilies

In remembering there is returning.  In returning the discoveries do not cease.

gnats dance in sunlight
design of the spider's web
familiar voices

I have never tried my hands on haiku. I need to do that, for this felt really nice to read. :)
